FAQ
When I deliver a project to my customer, do they need to purchase a license?
You must transfer the Sencha license to your client if they are going to own and host the application. If you need to transfer the Sencha license to your client, please complete this form. If you will be performing the ongoing maintenance, then you may retain Designated User status on behalf of your client for whom you purchased the license. If your client will be performing the ongoing maintenance, then Designated User status may be transferred to the applicable developer at your client. Your client must have enough Sencha licenses to cover all developers supporting the application.
You cannot use the same license to design and develop web applications for multiple clients. If you fail to properly allocate licenses, it will create issues for you and your client, as they will not have distribution rights to the application afforded with a license, nor will they be able to update or maintain the application.
If you have used Sencha Test on the project, you may transfer the Sencha Test license to your client if they want to continue to use the tests you have created on their behalf from within Sencha Test Studio.
I have finished my project for my customer but I will be performing the ongoing maintenance of the application. Does my customer need to purchase licenses to the Sencha products I used to build the application?
No, you must transfer the license(s) to your client, and you can support the application on your client’s behalf, as a consultant.
I am building applications for numerous clients. Do I need to purchase a license for each project?
Yes and no. Yes, you must submit a form to purchase licenses for each client for whom you perform design and development work with Sencha products. No, you do not need a license for every application unless the application is for a different client.
I have completed an application for a client who already has Ext JS licenses. Do they need to purchase additional licenses in order have distribution rights for the new application?
You must transfer the licenses to the client in order for them to have distribution rights to the application you built on their behalf. If they have more developers supporting the application than the licenses you purchased, then they will need to purchase additional licenses.
I want to maintain a license for my use as an independent consultant. How can I do that if I have to transfer the license to my client when I complete each project?
You can submit a form to purchase a license for yourself. You can list yourself or the name of your agency in the “Client Company Name” section of the form.
I want to learn more about Sencha products so I can use them in future consulting projects. Can I still participate in this program if I don’t currently have a client?
Yes, you may still participate in the program if you meet the eligibility requirements. You can list yourself or the name of your agency in the “Client Company Name” section of the form. Once you do have a named client, you will need to transfer the license to them upon project completion.
Can I pay for my licenses with a PO?
We can only accept credit card and PayPal for this program. You can purchase 5 licenses or more with a PO.
